A GPU or Graphics Processing Unit is a piece of hardware often used for rendering images on the very screen you are using right now. The sizes of these can vary wildly. Common manufactures of these are AMD, NVIDIA and INTEL. Apple and Qualcomm also make them for their in-house arm-based chips.
